An Evidence-based, Multi-level Assessment Process

The i-match hiring process is a marriage of advanced recruiting methodology and a cloud-based digital platform designed to address critical gaps in traditional hiring. Our overarching goal is to help you hire great people who are also the right people, the ones who will fit better, get more done, and stay longer.

The Hiring Team

With i-match, each hiring team member completes a McQuaig job assessment to identify the characteristics it will take to be successful, for your role, in your organization. The results are then reviewed with the hiring manager to bring to the fore, any expectation inconsistencies that could become a problem later in the hiring process. The goal is to get the hiring team on board with a shared expectation. This creates momentum in the process and avoids potential problems later on.

Short-Listed Candidates

Short-listed candidates also take a McQuaig assessment, the results of which are then compared with hiring team expectations. Candidates willingly engage in the process by investing additional effort such as recording an introductory video, answering key competency questions and even preparing video responses to screening questions, all before being selected for an interview. By the time the hiring team selects candidates for interviewing, they are already becoming familiar with them. This changes the interviewing dynamic for the better and results in more productive interviews.

An Unparalleled Process

Combined with extensive evaluation of each candidate’s skills and experience performed as part of the i-match process, you’ve now completed a multi-level, evidenced-based assessment process that provides all the information you need to make the best decision possible.

Avoid a contested or compromised candidate situation by creating a shared expectation among the hiring team of what a great candidate looks like.

Avoid time-wasting interviews by reviewing candidate psychometric assessments, videos, and key competency questions BEFORE deciding who to interview.

Improve quality of hire and de-risk the process by assessing candidate attitude, behavior, and organizational fit BEFORE making an offer.

We’re so confident in our process we offer a FREE replacement for up to one year if a candidate doesn’t work out.

Why McQuaig Institute® Assessments?

Have you ever heard the saying - “we hire for skills but fire for behavior”? Here’s what that means.

It’s generally well within our ability to assess if a person has the requisite skills and experience to do the job. But new employees don’t typically fail based on their skills and experience. They fail because they underperform due to attitude and motivation issues that translate into the wrong behaviors. They can also fail because they don’t fit with the workstyle culture of the organization or team.

Because these critical factors are nearly impossible to assess in a face-to-face interview, we’re forced to make a leap of faith in selecting our finalist, only to learn if we made the right decision after observing on-the-job performance for several months or longer. This is the fundamental cause of poor employee retention, and the reason we rely on McQuaig assessments to de-risk the hiring process.

How it Works

Each hiring team member completes a “Job Assessment” to profile the type of person who will be successful in the role.

Your Lowry Hill Specialist reviews McQuaig Job Assessment results with the hiring manager so that any outlier expectations among hiring team members can be addressed in advance of interviewing.

Candidate semi-finalists complete the McQuaig Word Survey. Results are matched with the hiring team’s job assessment criteria to identify candidates that match best.

On the Digital Portal, hiring team members review McQuaig assessments, candidate video introductions, answers to key competency questions, and video interview questions completed by all semi-finalists.

On the Digital Portal, hiring team members assess each candidate via the Dynamic Scoring Index and select candidates for first interviews.

The Benefits

Now, candidates are more confident interviewing because they understand their McQuaig assessment results, and are very familiar with the role and company based on information we provided in the Candidate Pack.

Face-to-face Interviews are now more productive because the hiring team has excellent insight into each candidate’s personality through video and initial responses to questions they reviewed in advance of selecting which candidates to interview. This allows them to take advantage of the interviews to expand and explore issues most important to finalizing a hiring decision.
